EDTR-Web
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Who is the EDTR-web?
A: The network formerly known as the Dark Net.
Q: What does EDTR-web stand for?
A: Expressing (feel what you feel), Dissenting (say what you think), Teaching, learning, sharing (share what you know), Resisting (fight to the brink).
Q: Who does EDTR-web work for?
A: We don’t work for anybody. We exist. For anyone who wants to be in total freedom, without the restriction of an imposed conception of what can and cannot be done.
Q: What r teh rulez?
A: There are no legal rules. Technical rules are aspirational, and include things like DNS keys and how to handle crypto (link to new resource page with links including CIJ handbook). There are no moral rules, but…
Q: What r teh norms?
A: Norms will develop. And we might not like them. But they’ll be ever-changing. If they’re ever stable, that’s when we’ll know it’s time to reboot the web. Again.
Q: What about the badness?
A: The EDTR-web is primarily used for things other people don’t agree with, like dissenting and freedom-fighting. We are not responsible for defining or policing badness including: terror, hate, child abuse, drugs, suicide, and yo mama.
Q: Why aren’t you concerned about the badness?
A: “If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”—The Bible, NIV, 1 Corinthians 13:1-8. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Corinthians+13
Q: BUT WHAT ABOUT THE BADNESS?
A: Call your mother.
